The ABC QUICK GUIDE (for the few of us that don’t read directions well) A. Assure pouch is at operating temperature and remove the test device from the pouch. Verify that five (5) green lines are present in the test window.
If (5) green lines are not present, do not use the device. Select a new device and mark the new device with the subject's name or ID number, and remove the clear plastic cap. B. Let the donor accumulate oral fluid in their mouth - for about a minute. You may also provide the donor with a glass of water and wait five minutes, as needed. Request the donor to continue to collect oral fluid in the “spoon”, gently moving it to oral fluid pooling within their mouth. As shown below, the spoon / collector should be horizontal and the handle in an upward position.
C. Once you, the test administrator, notice a red “wash” beginning to flow in the test window (usually takes about 2minutes), request the donor to place the device on a flat horizontal surface, and allow 10-12 minutes before reading the device.
Notes: A red control line (C) must be clearly visible before reading and recording ANY result. 1. If there are five (5) red indicator lines, including the control line, the device may be read as “Negative” once all lines appear. 2. A “Non-negative” result (the absence of a line at any drug indicator, and a red control line present) can NOT be read until the 12 minute mark. |
